My name is Kip Koons and I have served on the Board of Selectmen since 2015. I am running again because I believe our town benefits from leadership that has experience, judgement and values fiscal restraint.
A graduate of Cornell University, George Washington University Law School and Harvard Business School’s Executive Marketing Program, I have years of experience in banking, corporate development, and financial consulting.
As a lifelong resident of Darien, I have been an active volunteer in the community. Currently, I am the co-Chair of the Ox Ridge Elementary School Building Committee and serve as a Board Member, Chairman of the Audit Committee and member of the Finance Committee for Family Centers, Inc. (1990-present). I served as Board President and Chairman of the Finance and Nominating Committees for the Darien YMCA (1986-1992) and Vice Chair and Director of the Darien Red Cross (1993-2002).
My wife Jill and I have three children and eight grandchildren living in Fairfield County. Two of our grandchildren attend Darien public schools.
Fun fact: I learned to play hockey on Gorham’s Pond, fell through the ice and was saved by my brother, and went on to play hockey at Cornell University.
